One community Independent candidate for Prahran | Policy Platform

I have long held the view that:

“Inequality benefits those who hold the power, equality benefits us all.”

In Australia we have a two-party system, both parties fighting for power. With each passing month the divisiveness grows.  My question is, are they fighting for power beyond the needs of very people whom they claim to represent? Is this power for the sake of power?

As the community independent for Prahran, I will fight for equality, I will speak truth to power, and I will do so because equality must sit at the base of all policy.  This is what I do, day in day out.  Speaking truth to power is what will start that journey toward restoring integrity back into politics.

We’ve already had glimpses of the push to wind back women’s rights in the SA parliament, the Federal parliament and in QLD, it’s important that the women of Victoria have a representative who will fight in their corner to ensure that their rights are not going be wound back.  I will do this whilst working actively to find policy solutions to ending violence against women.

It is inequality too that is driving the current cost of living pressure, young people, those with mortgages are the ones who are paying the price of high mortgage repayments and ridiculous rents. We all deserve a roof over our heads, and food on the table.

We can’t talk about power without talking about climate change.  True progress will only be made when the balance of power is restored to the local communities, when their voices are heard rather than the policies of those who care for their own power.

So, I bring to you a long history of speaking truth to power, a long history of listening to those who have been silenced.

Every one of us deserves the right to be who we are and to live in a world free of discrimination.

We also deserve to live in an environment in which we feel safe.

I see the degradation of our built environment along chapel street, amongst other streets in Prahran. I see the issues of homelessness, I see the issues around drugs and alcohol, and I see how this impacts on our community, on you.

Working together we can find a way forward.

As your local community member, I am free to fight for you, and you know what?
I’ve never been frightened of a challenge!
